A Friday explosion in the southern Lebanon village of Jebbayn left one IDF reservist dead and three others wounded, after an explosive device detonated inside a building during a weapons search, despite the ceasefire with Hezbollah already being in effect.

The fallen soldier is Warrant Officer (res.) Barak Kalfon, 48, from Adi, who served in the 7056th Battalion of the 226th Reserve Paratroopers Brigade.

According to an initial IDF assessment, the device had not been remotely detonated. Of the three wounded, two are in moderate condition and one is lightly injured. The injured were evacuated by helicopter to a hospital in northern Israel, and their families have been notified.
