President Trump has announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire
By Bernie,
President Trump has announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, set to take effect at 5 p.m. EST (12 a.m. IST). Trump said he spoke with both Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump said he has directed Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine to work with Israel and Lebanon toward a lasting peace. The announcement follows Tuesday's historic meeting at the State Department between the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors, which was the first direct diplomatic engagement between the two countries in over three decades.
The ceasefire announcement came as Israel's cabinet was holding a telephone conference with Netanyahu to discuss the situation.
