Mossad Director Dadi Barnea said today that Israel's mission against Iran will not be complete until the Iranian regime is replaced. Speaking at a Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony at Mossad headquarters, Barnea said the agency operated again inside Tehran during the war, providing precise intelligence to the Israeli Air Force. He said the 40 days of fighting produced significant achievements but that the agency had planned from the outset for operations to continue beyond the air campaign. "Our commitment will be fulfilled only when this extremist regime is replaced," Barnea said. "The regime that seeks our destruction must pass from this world."
Separately, Defense Minister Israel Katz said the removal of enriched uranium from Iran is a precondition for ending the war. Katz said the June 2025 operation and the recent campaign "destroyed Iran's nuclear program and its ability to produce nuclear weapons," but that remaining enriched material "could serve as a basis for an attempt to restart the project." He said the United States and Israel have jointly defined the removal of this material as a condition for ending the campaign.
The statements align with Prime Minister Netanyahu's remarks Monday, in which he said Vice President Vance told him that the central U.S. objective is the removal of all enriched material and ensuring no enrichment inside Iran for decades.
