Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the government meeting Monday that Israel supports President Trump's decision to impose a naval blockade on Iran and that Israel is in "constant coordination" with the United States.
Netanyahu said Vice President JD Vance called him from his plane returning from Islamabad on Sunday and briefed him on what Netanyahu described as "the collapse of the negotiations." He said the talks broke down from the American side after Iran violated the ceasefire terms by failing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as agreed. Netanyahu said Vance made clear that the central issue for the U.S. is the removal of all enriched material from Iran and ensuring there is no enrichment inside the country, potentially for decades.
Netanyahu pushed back against suggestions of a disconnect between Jerusalem and Washington, saying the level of coordination is unprecedented. "Anyone who was around during this call, and during the daily conversations we hold with the President and his people, can testify to that," he said. "This is coordination like never before."
