After Israel's airspace was fully reopened last week following a ceasefire that paused the joint US-Israel campaign against Iran, the Israel Airports Authority says foreign airlines are beginning a phased return to Ben Gurion Airport.
The rollout is being carried out day by day. Today, Bluebird Airways is restarting a limited schedule with a daily Tel Aviv-Athens route. On Tuesday, TUS Airways will resume flights. Wednesday will see Etihad Airways relaunch limited service between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv, joined by Ethiopian Airlines and Smartwings. On Thursday, Hainan Airlines is expected to renew direct Tel Aviv-Beijing flights. By Friday, Red Wings Airlines, Georgian Airways, and FlyOne are all set to resume operations.
Transportation Minister Miri Regev says efforts are underway to restore full aviation activity, adding that the return of international carriers will expand destination options and increase flight availability. The Airports Authority adds that advanced talks are ongoing with additional airlines, including flydubai, as part of efforts to further broaden operations.
