Israel's Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism released a report Thursday warning that anti-war sentiment on the American right is increasingly crossing into antisemitic territory as the conflict with Iran continues.
An aggregate of five major U.S. polls conducted in the war's first week found that roughly 47% of Americans oppose the war, 35% support it, and 18% remain unsure. Republican support stands at 84 to 85%, but 74% of all voters oppose sending ground troops, including 52% of Republicans. Opposition is strongest among Democrats, independents, and younger voters.
The report identifies a growing rift within the Republican Party between leadership that backs the campaign and a populist-isolationist wing that frames it as a betrayal of "America First" promises. Since the war began, the ministry documented over 3,600 posts on X using the phrase "Dying for Israel," more than 4,000 anti-war posts invoking "America First," over 3,000 referencing "Neocon," and more than 8,000 tying the war to Epstein-related conspiracy theories. Prominent figures driving these narratives include Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Joe Rogan, Nick Fuentes, and former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The report compares the Republican response to Iran with the January 2026 Venezuela intervention and finds that anti-war rhetoric was "far more vitriolic, conspiratorial, and laced with antisemitic undertones" toward Iran, suggesting the presence of Israel in the debate intensifies hostility. Criticism of the Venezuela operation was more muted and procedural in tone despite similar concerns about overreach.
Minister Amichai Chikli called the findings "concerning," saying criticism of Israel is increasingly devolving into "conspiratorial rhetoric with a sharp antisemitic aroma." The ministry warned these trends pose a direct risk to Jewish communities in the United States, particularly heading into November's midterm elections, and that Republican support for the war may erode if the conflict drags on or economic costs mount.
