Following our last report, additional details are emerging regarding the shooting near the building housing the Israeli consulate in Istanbul.
According to a Turkish broadcaster, the incident left three people dead and two police officers wounded. The attackers, reportedly armed with long-barreled weapons, exchanged fire with police, leaving two of them dead while a third was taken into custody.
Footage shows an officer drawing his weapon and taking cover as gunfire erupted, with one individual seen lying wounded at the scene. Security forces, which maintain a constant presence in the area, were heavily deployed afterward. The Foreign Ministry says the consulate was empty at the time of the incident.
