Defense Minister Israel Katz says the Israeli Air Force struck Iran's largest petrochemical facility
By Sammy,
Defense Minister Israel Katz says the Israeli Air Force struck Iran's largest petrochemical facility in Asaluyeh a short while ago, describing it as a key site responsible for roughly 50% of the country's production.
According to Iranian state media, including Fars, airstrikes hit infrastructure at the South Pars gas field, calling it an "enemy attack" on the petrochemical complex. Katz says the strike follows last week's attack on another major facility, adding that together the two sites accounted for about 85% of Iran's petrochemical exports and are now no longer functioning.
He describes the damage as a severe economic blow worth tens of billions of dollars, saying the sector is a key source of funding for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iran's military buildup. Katz adds that the IDF has been instructed to continue striking national infrastructure, warning that continued attacks on Israeli civilians will lead to further escalation and growing economic and strategic damage.
