The IDF says it has identified a pattern during the current fighting in southern Lebanon, stating that around 165 rockets launched by Hezbollah have landed within or near UNIFIL positions. The military claims the group operates in close proximity to United Nations posts to carry out attacks, adding that coordination with UNIFIL forces has continued throughout the clashes.
Amid this, a rocket struck a UNIFIL base in Odaisseh on Friday, wounding three members of the observer force, including two seriously, according to Israel, while UNIFIL has not confirmed the source of the blast.
In additional incidents reported last week, two Indonesian UNIFIL troops were killed in an explosion Israel attributes to roadside bombs planted by Hezbollah. Days earlier, another Indonesian peacekeeper was killed when a projectile detonated near a UN position, with a UN security source saying the incident was caused by Israeli fire.
