Sources indicate to BNN that a U.S. Air Force F-15E has been damaged over Iranian territory. U.S. officials have not commented. A search and rescue operation is reportedly underway in Iran's Khuzestan province, with F-35 fighters, MQ-9 Reaper drones, A-10 attack aircraft, and refueling tankers observed in the area. The status of the two crew members is unknown.
Iran's state-run Mehr News Agency says police are calling on residents to help capture the "American pilot or pilots." Local Iranian television broadcast calls for tribesmen and Basij forces to target American soldiers if spotted. Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported that a U.S. Black Hawk helicopter came under air defense fire and withdrew, and that multiple Black Hawks and a C-130 had been dispatched to the area. Reports as well of exchanges of fire between U.S. forces and IRGC troops during the search.
