The IDF has found that Ofer "Poshko" Moskovitz was killed on Sunday in Misgav Am by artillery fire from Israeli forces that mistakenly struck the area during activity meant to support troops across the border. His family has been notified.
According to the initial inquiry, multiple serious failures occurred in both the planning and execution of the strike. The artillery was fired at the wrong angle and in violation of protocol, causing five shells to land on the Misgav Am ridge instead of the intended target.
Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo described the incident as "extremely serious," saying Moskovitz "was killed by our own forces' fire during an operation whose entire purpose was to protect them." The IDF expressed deep regret over the incident and said the findings will be reviewed and presented transparently to the family and the public.
