IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said the ballistic missiles that struck Dimona and Arad this evening are not considered a new or unusual threat, despite the failure to intercept them. "The air defense systems operated but did not intercept the missile, we will investigate the incident and learn from it," he said, adding, "This is not a special or unfamiliar type of munition."
He also expressed support for those affected, saying, "Our hearts are with the residents of Arad and Dimona tonight," while urging the public to follow safety instructions. "It is important to remember, follow the Home Front Command guidelines. They save lives," he added.
According to MDA, all individuals injured in the Arad impact have been evacuated to hospitals. In total, 71 people sustained physical injuries.
Among them, 10 are listed in serious condition and 13 in moderate condition, while 48 others were lightly hurt. An additional four individuals suffering from acute anxiety were also treated and taken for further care.
