By Sammy,

The IDF has confirmed that overnight, the Israeli Air Force carried out a precise strike in Tehran, eliminating Iran's Intelligence Minister, Esmaeil Khatib. He had been appointed to the role in 2021 by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and was responsible for leading the regime's central intelligence organization.

According to the military, Khatib oversaw a wide range of intelligence activity, including surveillance, espionage, and covert operations abroad, with a focus on Israeli and American targets. He was also heavily involved in internal repression, including during the Mahsa Amini protests, where intelligence forces played a role in arrests, killings, and shaping the regime's response.

The IDF adds that Khatib previously held senior intelligence roles within the IRGC and was considered a key figure within Iran's security system. His elimination is part of a broader wave of strikes against senior Iranian figures, which the military says has significantly weakened the regime's command structure and will continue moving forward.
