By Sammy,

According to Israeli officials, an overnight airstrike in Tehran targeted Iran's intelligence minister, Esmaeil Khatib. The initial report came from Iran International and was later confirmed by an Israeli source, with the outcome of the strike still under review.

Defense Minister Israel Katz later stated that Khatib was killed in the strike, adding that Israel is preparing for further escalation. Speaking during a security assessment, Katz said that "the intensity of the strikes in Iran is increasing," and warned that "significant surprises" are expected throughout the day across multiple arenas.

He also noted that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have given the green light for the IDF to eliminate senior Iranian figures without requiring additional authorization.
