Israel's Transportation Ministry has approved a directive allowing flights from Ben Gurion Airport to North America to operate at full passenger capacity, removing the previous restriction that limited each flight to 100 travelers. The decision takes effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice. However, flights must still operate according to the airport's schedule and the safety guidelines issued by the IDF Home Front Command.
The passenger cap remains in effect for flights from Israel to other destinations, though officials are reviewing the possibility of easing restrictions on routes to Europe by increasing the capacity of narrow-body aircraft to roughly 170 passengers. The change comes as special flights are being arranged in coordination with the United States Department of State and the United States Embassy in Jerusalem to help thousands of U.S. citizens stranded in Israel since the war with Iran began on February 28 return home, with six nonstop departures to New York City planned at full capacity.
