Israeli cabinet ministers are approving an emergency across-the-board budget cut to government ministries
By Bernie,
Israeli cabinet ministers are approving an emergency across-the-board budget cut to government ministries to fund urgent defense procurement through a telephone vote. The decision states that due to the intensity of the fighting, there is an immediate need for operational procurement including ammunition and the restocking of critical combat supplies. The vote is taking place on an expedited basis, with ministers participating by phone rather than in a formal session.
The timing of the decision follows earlier reports suggesting a potential shortage of interceptor missiles. Senior IDF officials said earlier in the evening that the joint nature of the current operation with the United States, unlike last June's Operation Rising Lion which Israel conducted independently, has significantly eased the burden on Israel's ammunition stockpiles and resupply capacity, both during the current fighting and in the event the campaign extends for additional weeks.
