U.S. Central Command has issued a rare public safety warning directly to Iranian civilians, accusing Tehran of launching missiles and drones from heavily populated areas in cities including Dezful, Isfahan, and Shiraz. CENTCOM warned that locations used for military purposes lose their protected status and could become legitimate military targets under international law.
"Iran's terrorist regime is blatantly disregarding civilian lives by attacking Gulf partners while compromising the safety of their own people," CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated. The command urged Iranian civilians to stay in their homes.
CENTCOM said Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and thousands of drones since February 28, but noted that launch rates have "drastically declined" as U.S. and partner forces continue to degrade Iran's military capabilities. The statement said U.S. forces take every precaution to minimize civilian harm but cannot guarantee safety near facilities the Iranian regime is using for military operations.
The warning effectively puts Iranian civilians on notice that strikes on urban launch sites may follow, and places responsibility for any resulting casualties on the Iranian regime.
