By Bernie,

The United Arab Emirates has struck a target inside Iran for the first time since the war began, attacking a desalination plant, according to Kann News. The strike marks a major escalation in the conflict, with the UAE crossing from a defensive posture into offensive operations against Iran.

Separately, UAE air defenses intercepted 16 of 17 Iranian ballistic missiles and 113 drones detected today, the UAE Defense Ministry confirmed. One ballistic missile was not intercepted and struck the ground.

The UAE's entry into offensive operations comes after weeks of sustained Iranian attacks on Emirati territory, including strikes on Dubai International Airport, the Burj Al Arab, Jebel Ali Port, and fuel infrastructure in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah amongst other strikes. The UAE severed diplomatic ties with Tehran earlier in the conflict.
