President Trump has not ruled out sending American ground troops into Iran, stating "could there be? Possibly, for very good reason." Trump added that if ground forces were ever deployed, Iran would be "so decimated that they wouldn't be able to fight at the ground level." The remarks are the most explicit acknowledgment yet from the President that a ground invasion remains on the table.
Asked separately about reports of a U.S. strike on a school in Iran, Trump said the attack was carried out by Iran, not the United States, without elaborating further.
