The Houthis are exploring strikes on Israeli targets closer to Yemen as they prepare to formally enter the war, Kann News reports in an exclusive, describing the group as trying to "think creatively" about expanding its role in the conflict.
The prospect of Houthi involvement has prompted Saudi Arabia to significantly tighten security around King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, citing Arab intelligence assessments that the group is planning to strike critical Saudi targets using missiles and drones. A member of the Saudi royal family told Kann News that Houthi attacks on the kingdom would cross a red line. "If the Houthis join Iran in attacks against us, we will strike them back," the source said.
The Saudi source added that the kingdom and Gulf states are for now allowing the United States and Israel to complete their campaign in Iran, noting that direct Gulf military action against Iran would have dramatic consequences for oil prices. However, if Iranian attacks continue and intensify, the source warned there could be a reassessment of that position.
