An Israeli Air Force F-35I "Adir" has shot down an Iranian Air Force YAK-130 over the skies of Tehran

By Bernie,

An Israeli Air Force F-35I "Adir" has shot down an Iranian Air Force YAK-130 over the skies of Tehran, the IDF confirms, marking the first air-to-air kill of a manned aircraft by an F-35 anywhere in the world. The Iranian pilot took off while Israeli aircraft were operating in the area. The IDF says there is no certainty the pilot intended to engage in air-to-air combat, but the Israeli pilot identified the aircraft and downed it.

The engagement marks the first time in approximately 40 years that the Israeli Air Force has conducted air-to-air combat against a manned aircraft. The last such incident occurred on November 24, 1985, when an IAF F-15 "Baz" shot down two Syrian MiG-23 fighters over Lebanon.
