Israel has launched a new emergency repatriation program called "Lion's Wings" to bring home tens of thousands of citizens stranded abroad while Ben Gurion Airport remains closed under Operation Roar of the Lion. The program, formulated under the Prime Minister's guidance and headed by the Ministry of Transport, will route flights to Egypt's Taba Airport, with passengers crossing directly into Israel at the nearby border without remaining on Egyptian territory.
The National Security Council issued specific safety instructions for Israelis transiting through Egypt: conceal anything that could identify you as Israeli or Jewish, and do not post updates or personal information on social media. The Level 4 travel warning for Egypt remains in full effect.
The program has not yet launched but is expected to begin in the coming days. Some travelers have already begun arranging private overland routes through Sinai, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Taba, though these are not part of the official program. Call center numbers and registration details will be published once Lion's Wings is operational.
