The IDF announced that it "eliminated the Commander of Iran's Quds Force Lebanon Corps" in Tehran earlier today. Daoud Ali Zadeh, who had been serving as the temporary replacement for Hassan Mahdavi, was killed in a strike carried out by the Israeli Air Force, guided by IDF intelligence. Mahdavi had previously been eliminated in an Israeli operation.
According to the IDF, Ali Zadeh was "the highest-ranking Iranian commander responsible for Lebanon" and acted as the key link between the Iranian regime and Hezbollah. The Lebanon Corps, the IDF noted, "supports Hezbollah force-building and functions as the connection between senior IRGC personnel and Hezbollah leadership." Ali Zadeh also oversaw strategic weapons transfers and advised on proxy firepower capabilities, strengthening Hezbollah's operational reach.
The IDF emphasized that "Israel will not allow Iranian elements that prevent Lebanon's recovery and strengthen Hezbollah to establish themselves in Lebanon." It added that it "will continue to operate against Hezbollah's attempts to rehabilitate and rearm itself and will act with force to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel."
