Qatar has cut off engagement with Iran. Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari tells CNN that Qatar is "not engaging with Iran at the moment," stating that Iran's attacks "cannot go unanswered" and that Tehran must "pay a price" for striking Qatari territory. Al Ansari says over 100 missiles and "scores" of drones have been launched at Qatar, targeting not only U.S. forces but also commercial, civilian, and military infrastructure, including Qatar's international airport. Around 20 people have been injured, mostly with minor wounds.
The break represents a dramatic shift for a country that has historically maintained close ties with Tehran, including sharing ownership of the world's largest natural gas field and serving as a key mediator in U.S.-Iran diplomacy. Qatar had been mediating the most recent round of indirect nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran just days before the strikes began.
