The IDF says that, guided by precise intelligence, it eliminated senior officials of Iran's Ministry of Intelligence, the regime's main body responsible for global espionage and terrorist operations, during the opening strike of Operation 'Roaring Lion'. The IDF says the strike specifically targeted Sayed Yahya Hamidi, Deputy Minister for "Israel Affairs", who led attacks against Jews, Western actors, and dissidents abroad, and Jalal Pour Hossein, head of the ministry's Espionage Division, along with several other high-ranking operatives.
The IDF says that documents recovered by its forces in the Gaza Strip revealed repeated Iranian attempts to establish a joint intelligence operations room with Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Lebanon, coordinated by the Ministry of Intelligence. The IDF says the ministry has long monitored Iranian citizens and supplied intelligence used to violently suppress protests over the years.
The IDF says that, in addition to neutralizing its senior leadership, the Israeli Air Force struck the ministry's Tehran headquarters, dealing a major blow to the regime's ability to conduct international attacks and repress internal opponents. The IDF says the Ministry of Intelligence reports directly to the Supreme Leader and has been under U.S. sanctions for years for its role in terrorism and global espionage.
