Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran's last Shah, praised reports that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had died in joint US and Israeli strikes. He claimed the event marks the effective end of the Islamic Republic and said the regime is on the verge of collapse. Pahlavi stated that the clerical system that replaced his family's monarchy has run its course and will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history. He added that any attempt to appoint a successor is doomed to fail and urged Iran's military, police, and security forces to break with the current leadership and support a transition led by the people.
