The Geneva talks have paused after approximately three hours, with negotiations expected to resume between 17:30 and 18:00 Geneva time.
Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi said "constructive and positive ideas" were exchanged and expressed hope for further progress. Iranian officials said new ideas were raised that require consultation with Tehran, though gaps remain. A senior Iranian official told Reuters that a deal is possible "if the U.S. seriously separates the nuclear issue from other matters."
According to the Wall Street Journal, U.S. negotiators demanded that Iran dismantle its core nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, hand over all remaining enriched uranium, and agree to zero enrichment permanently. The U.S. may allow Iran's Tehran reactor to operate at very low enrichment levels for medical purposes only.
