Secretary of State Marco Rubio will brief the Gang of Eight on Iran at the White House tomorrow afternoon, a U.S. official said. The closed-door discussion will come just hours before President Trump's State of the Union address.
The Gang of Eight consists of the eight congressional leaders who receive the most sensitive intelligence briefings: the Speaker of the House, House Minority Leader, Senate Majority Leader, Senate Minority Leader, and the chairs and ranking members of both the House and Senate intelligence committees.
Briefing the Gang of Eight typically precedes major military or covert operations requiring congressional notification.
