Anti-regime protests continued for a third day across Iranian universities on Monday as students expressed outrage over the killing of demonstrators.
At Al-Zahra University in Tehran, students burned the Islamic Republic flag and chanted "Death to the Islamic Republic" and "This is the final battle, Pahlavi is coming back." At Ferdowsi University in Mashhad, students chanted "Freedom, Freedom, This is the year of blood; Seyed Ali will be overthrown." Clashes between students and security forces were reported.
The protests in Mashhad are particularly notable as authorities consider the city a conservative stronghold. Students openly chanting against Supreme Leader Khamenei signals the intensity of the unrest.
