U.S. military flight activity has risen to at least 176 tracked flights as logistics and deployment support continues to flow into the Middle East, according to open-source tracking data.
A U-2S Dragon Lady high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft deployed from RAF Fairford toward the Middle East today. F-22 Raptor stealth fighters are expected to arrive at RAF Lakenheath in the UK, supported by tankers currently en route to RAF Mildenhall. F-16s from McEntire Joint National Guard Base in South Carolina are heading to Naval Station Rota or Moron Air Base in Spain.
Six C-17 Globemaster III cargo aircraft are en route to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan from Spangdahlem Air Base, RAF Lakenheath, Roosevelt Roads, and Biggs Army Airfield, providing deployment support for fighter squadrons. Five additional C-17s have positioned at McEntire to support F-16 movements. Tracking analysts noted that Muwaffaq Salti may be approaching capacity, with additional aircraft potentially diverting to Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
Six KC-135 tankers arrived overnight at Chania Airport in Greece, Naval Station Rota, and Sofia Airport in Bulgaria. Analysts noted these do not appear to be supporting fighter movements and may be staging for refueling bomber aircraft.
