The second round of indirect U.S.-Iran negotiations has begun in Geneva, mediated by Oman, Iranian officials confirmed. White House envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff departed their hotel for the negotiations site earlier today.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Tahrani said Tehran will not accept zero enrichment, stating it is "not on the agenda." Iran is willing to discuss a 60% enrichment level and other aspects of its nuclear program, but only in exchange for the effective removal of sanctions.
A senior Iranian official told Reuters that the key to productive talks is "avoiding unrealistic demands," adding that Iran is entering negotiations "with a practical and serious approach, equipped with an organized plan and concrete proposals."
Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said a U.S. aircraft carrier is "dangerous," but "more dangerous is the weapon that can send it to the bottom of the sea," according to Fars News. Khamenei dismissed remarks by President Trump, saying the U.S. "will not be able" to destroy the Islamic Republic.
