Two U.S. Air Force E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft have arrived at RAF Mildenhall in the UK after departing Alaska, according to flight tracking data. Per BNN analysis and expert sources, the deployment of the airborne warning and control aircraft represents one of the final pieces before potential operations against Iran begin.
Four additional KC-135R tanker aircraft arrived in Europe overnight from the continental United States, with two landing at Rota, Spain, and two at Souda Bay, Greece.
Separately, the U.S. Air Force has approved rapid production of a new counter-drone variant of BAE Systems' Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System after identifying an urgent need in the Middle East. The APKWS converts standard unguided rockets into precision munitions at a fraction of the cost of traditional missiles. The new air-to-air variant is designed to shoot down drones and is planned for U.S. Air Force F-16s and U.S. Navy MH-60 helicopters, with initial fielding expected by fall.
