Video broadcast by Channel 12 captures dramatic scenes from Tehran on January 8, when unrest gripped the capital and demonstrators openly called for the regime's fall. Fires can be seen spreading across mosques, bridges and nearby buildings, while security forces ride through the streets in formation on motorcycles, at times opening fire as they advance.

According to opposition-linked outlet Iran International, more than 36,000 people were killed that night, though the number has not been independently verified. Parts of the footage show rows of bodies laid out as relatives search for missing loved ones. Because of the extremely graphic nature of the material, we will not be sharing the video.

The Iranian who filmed the events said some protesters also directed anger at U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of failing to provide assistance despite previous statements suggesting support. The same individual had earlier documented events inside Iran for Channel 12 in 2022 and was unharmed during the 2026 unrest.
