Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said before taking off from Washington that his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump revolved largely around the diplomatic track with Iran. According to Netanyahu, Trump believes "the Iranians now understand the U.S. position," and that they might ultimately agree to terms that could make a deal possible.
Netanyahu added that he is still doubtful such an agreement can be reached, stressing that if one is signed, it must cover far more than Iran's nuclear program. He noted that the talks must also include "their ballistic missile project and the activity of their regional proxies." He said the two leaders also discussed Gaza and additional regional matters.
