Israeli security services have arrested several suspects, including a civilian and IDF reservists, for allegedly betting on the prediction market platform Polymarket about upcoming military operations using classified information they accessed through their military roles.
The Shin Bet, Defense Ministry, and Israel Police announced in a joint statement that prosecutors have charged one civilian and one reservist with serious security offenses, bribery, and obstruction of justice.
"Such gambling based on secret and classified information poses a real security risk to IDF operations and state security," the defense establishment said.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Shin Bet, the Defense Ministry's security unit (Malmab), Israel Police, Military Police, and the State Attorney's cyber department. The identities of those involved remain under a court-issued gag order.
