According to CNN, US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea at the invitation of US Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper. The carrier arrived in the region last week as tensions between Washington and Tehran escalated, and the visit comes shortly after the two led the American delegation in indirect talks with Iran in Oman.
Witkoff later confirmed the trip in a post on X, saying he and Kushner met sailors and Marines aboard the Lincoln and its strike group who are "keeping us safe" and advancing President Donald Trump's message of "peace through strength." He adds that they also met the pilot who shot down an Iranian drone that flew toward the carrier last week without clear intent.
