US President Donald Trump declines to disclose where Friday's nuclear talks with Iran will be held, as Tehran seeks to change reported US plans for the meeting. Asked in the Oval Office about the location, Trump responds vaguely: "All over... There's more than one" location.
Quoted in Israeli media, an Arab diplomat says Washington had planned for the talks to be held in Istanbul and invited several prominent Arab and Muslim countries to attend as observers. However, Axios reports that Iran is pushing to move the talks elsewhere and limit participation, preferring direct talks with the US without other countries involved. Iran's foreign ministry also says discussions are underway regarding multiple potential locations.
Trump says negotiations are already underway, adding that Iran wants a deal but it is unclear whether anything will be finalized. "They are negotiating. They'd like to do something. We'll see if something is going to be done," he says, referencing the US's June strike on Iran's nuclear program. "They had a chance to do something a while ago, and it didn't work out, and we did Midnight Hammer," Trump adds, claiming Tehran does not want a repeat and concluding: "We are negotiating with them right now."
