Bahrain's Ministry of Interior announced it will conduct a trial of the Emergency Alert System across all mobile phones and smart devices at 9:30 PM local time tonight. The test will send alerts to all compatible devices on 4G and 5G networks across the country.
Compatible devices will vibrate, play a loud siren-like sound lasting up to 10 seconds, and display a test message. The ministry emphasized the message will clearly indicate it is only a test and no action is required from the public.
The trial is part of a phased rollout of Bahrain's wireless emergency alert system approved earlier this year to provide timely warnings before, during, and after emergencies. The timing of the test coincides with heightened regional tensions as the U.S. continues its military buildup in the Middle East.
