The European Union has officially designated Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas confirmed foreign ministers took the "decisive step" at their meeting in Brussels today.
The designation follows France's announcement Tuesday that it would support the measure, bringing all 27 EU member states into agreement. EU foreign ministers also approved new sanctions targeting individuals and entities linked to the violent crackdown on Iranian protesters and Tehran's support for Russia.
