Talks on Iran are taking place in Washington, DC this week as the Trump administration considers possible military options, including targeted strikes, according to reports from Axios, Reuters and CNN.
Axios reports that senior Israeli and Saudi defense and intelligence officials are in the US capital for discussions with American officials. On the Israeli side, IDF Intelligence Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder is said to have met with senior Pentagon, CIA and White House officials on Tuesday and Wednesday, while sharing intelligence related to potential targets in Iran.
Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, is reportedly urging diplomatic steps to avoid a broader conflict. Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, the younger brother of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is meeting US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff on Thursday and Friday.
According to Saudi state media, the crown prince recently told Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that Riyadh will not allow its territory or airspace to be used for military action against Tehran. CNN also reports that recent US-Iran discussions did not produce progress on a deal limiting Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs, contributing to increased openness in Washington to intervention.
