Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned Italy's ambassador to Tehran following Rome's intention to bring a vote on designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a designated group.
The summons comes hours after Italy announced it is evacuating diplomatic personnel from Iran based on information received through confidential channels with Washington. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani had ordered a substantial reduction of embassy staff in Iran, who are returning to Italy quickly.
