The Israeli public will not receive advance warning before a U.S. strike on Iran, though the IDF expects to be notified shortly beforehand, according to Maariv. Defense officials said they do not want information to leak and jeopardize the success of American offensive operations.
During the advance notice period, the IDF will conduct operational preparations not visible to the public. A limited number of officials at Israeli airlines may be informed to prepare for evacuating the civilian aircraft fleet, along with some energy sector personnel. Home Front Command rescue battalions may be repositioned using cover stories so that even the soldiers involved do not know the true purpose of their mission. Border readiness, particularly in the north, may be increased.
Public alert measures will begin simultaneously with the first wave of strikes in Iran. The Home Front Command and IDF will then implement a series of actions based on assessments including the scope of the American attack, targets struck, and Iran's capacity to respond. It remains unclear whether sirens will be activated as occurred during the start of Israel's Operation Rising Lion. The Home Front Command may instruct broadcasters to open news studios for continuous updates. Decisions will also be required regarding schools and the broader economy.
