The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its strike group arrived in the Middle East on Sunday evening and is operating in proximity to Iran, according to Israeli Channels 12 and 13. The carrier completed a rapid redeployment from the Indo-Pacific theater, where it began heading west more than a week ago. The strike group, including destroyers and associated aircraft, is positioned in the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea area under U.S. Central Command control.
The USS Roosevelt, carrying specialized missile defense systems, is in the area of operations near Israel, and an additional THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) battery is expected to arrive in the coming days. The reinforcements would augment existing systems including Iron Dome, David's Sling, and Arrow to counter ballistic missile threats.
