The USS Roosevelt (DDG-80) has entered the Eastern Mediterranean, a defense official said. The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer is equipped with the Aegis Combat System and ballistic missile defense capabilities, including SM-2, SM-3, and SM-6 interceptors.
The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) carrier strike group is currently transiting the Indian Ocean en route to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. The strike group includes the destroyers USS Spruance, USS Michael Murphy, and USS Frank E. Petersen Jr.
Flight tracking data compiled by open-source intelligence analysts shows a significant buildup of U.S. Air Force tanker aircraft across multiple bases. Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar will host at least 20 KC-135 Stratotankers once two inbound aircraft arrive, according to the tracking data. Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia currently hosts four KC-46 Pegasus tankers, while Moron Air Base in Spain has four KC-135s positioned. An additional fleet of approximately 16 KC-135s at RAF Mildenhall in the United Kingdom remains available if required.
The tracking data also shows multiple C-17A Globemaster III cargo aircraft moving between European bases and Al-Udeid, along with F-15E Strike Eagle deployments to the region. The combined naval and air movements represent a broader surge of U.S. military assets toward the Middle East.
