Twelve U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles from the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath departed Sunday morning for the Middle East, supported by four KC-135 tankers from the 100th Air Refueling Wing at RAF Mildenhall, according to flight tracking by our colleague Armchair Admiral on X.
The aircraft are believed to be heading to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. A C-17 Globemaster cargo aircraft also departed Lakenheath for the same destination, reportedly using the full runway length and sounding heavily loaded, suggesting a significant equipment deployment.
Separately, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is currently crossing the Strait of Malacca near Malaysia en route to the Arabian Sea.
The movements appear to be part of the U.S. military buildup in the Middle East, following reports that air, land, and sea assets would flow into the region in the coming days and weeks to provide President Trump with military options regarding Iran.
