By Bernie,

The United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office issued updated security alerts and travel warnings Wednesday for much of the Middle East and Libya amid heightened regional tensions and risk of escalation. The warnings cover Turkey, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Libya, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Cyprus, and Bahrain.

The FCDO advised against all travel to Libya except Benghazi and Misrata, with even those areas subject to restrictions on non-essential travel in parts. For other countries, the FCDO warned of heightened risks of disruptions to flights and security, advising travelers to take precautions and monitor media. The FCDO noted conditions across the broader Middle East have potential for rapid changes and urged British nationals to sign up for alerts.
