The Wall Street Journal reports that President Donald Trump is still weighing his response to Iran's violent crackdown on protesters, with no final decision yet in place.

Inside the administration, Vice President JD Vance is emerging as the main voice arguing that Washington should first test diplomatic channels with Tehran rather than rush into military action. Still, sources say Trump currently appears more inclined toward a strike, even as he keeps his options open.

According to US officials cited by the newspaper, one scenario under discussion is a military move followed by negotiations. At the same time, people familiar with Vance's views say that while he is pressing for talks, he also regards Iran as a serious threat and is prepared to support bombing the country if it comes to that.
