Israeli officials believe the Iranian regime has passed a point of no return, even if its collapse is not imminent. A senior source quoted by Channel 12 said during the network's primetime broadcast that "the story of the Iranian regime is over," stressing that while the process may take time, "it will never go back to what it was."
According to the report, Israeli assessments are that Tehran will respond to the unrest with a harsher crackdown rather than fall within days or weeks. Officials cited by the channel estimate that at least 2,000 protesters may have already been killed, though verification is difficult amid a near-total shutdown of internet and phone services. Human rights groups earlier put the confirmed death toll at about 500.
The TV network also says the Prime Minister's Office has instructed ministers to refrain from publicly discussing the regime's future, making clear that only Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will speak for the government. Netanyahu said earlier that Israel "supports their struggle for freedom and firmly condemns the mass killings of innocent civilians," adding that he hopes "the Persian nation will soon be liberated from the yoke of tyranny," after which Israel and Iran could again become "faithful partners in building a future of prosperity and peace for both nations."
