Amid intensifying unrest across Iran and growing fears of regional escalation

Amid intensifying unrest across Iran and growing fears of regional escalation, Israel has gone on heightened alert over the possibility of U.S. involvement, Reuters reports, as Tehran's parliament speaker warned that any American strike would trigger retaliation against Israel and U.S. assets in the region.
Against this backdrop, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting to look past Iran's current leadership and address the Iranian people directly. According to his office, he said Israel is "sending strength to the heroic and courageous citizens of Iran," expressing hope that the "Persian nation will soon be freed from the yoke of tyranny."
Netanyahu added that once the regime in Tehran falls, Israel and Iran will "once again become faithful partners," saying the two sides will "do good things together for the benefit of both peoples" and work toward "a future of prosperity and peace."
