Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Knesset that there is "a global struggle between countries that represent freedom and progress, and violent countries that threaten the world order," arguing that Israel is leading this fight in the Middle East with strong backing from Washington.
Describing his relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump, Netanyahu said Israel and the U.S. "agree on the big things," adding that while there "are different approaches over certain points," the partnership remains "a recipe for the continuation of our series of achievements in 2026 as well."
Turning to Iran, he said that he and Trump "will not allow Iran to rebuild its ballistic missile industry, and we certainly won't let it renew its nuclear program," stressing their demand for zero enrichment, the removal of all enriched uranium from Iran, and close oversight of nuclear facilities. He added that "we in Israel identify with the struggle of the Iranian people," and their "aspirations for freedom and justice," saying the country may be nearing "a decisive moment, in which the Iranian people take their futures into their hands."
Netanyahu also noted that he and Trump have dealt extensively with efforts to return the body of Master Sgt. Ran Gvili from the Gaza Strip, said Israel backs "the determined decision by the \[US\] president, and the bold action by the US army in Venezuela," and accused the opposition of misreading the diplomatic reality throughout the war.
